Great article, are these the same Cypripedium that grow wild? They are a Beautiful plant.

Yes this is one of several Cyp species that are endemic to North America.

Thanks for reading!

I see them for sale at pretty much every local nursery I know of... but perhaps you are not so lucky. Here are some links for mail order sources:

Plants from Hillside Nursery - Lady-slipper Orchids and Select Woodland Wildflowers
Cypripedium - Vermont Ladyslipper Company
Raising Rarities -- Cypripedium Lady Slipper and Hybrid Orchids
The Wild Orchid Company
Fraser's Thimble Farms - Rare Plants
Planteck Biotechnologies Inc. - Hardy orchids and peonies
ROBERTS FLOWER SUPPLY

There may be some others in North America that I have forgotten.

Orchids and Orchid Supplies (search for Cypripedium)

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Default cycpripedium

i have a group of about 12. a few years ago when i first noticed them, from a distance, i thought they were daffodils. when i got closer and realized they were cyps., you could have heard my shouting for miles! i was told by a wise person to keep their exact location secret for fear someone would steal them. it's nice, sometimes, to have a secret but would love to share with more people about them. but, i'm cautious.
