Default Thanks

I'm just starting to grow Orchids and only have 2 Phalaenopsis plants right now. So far what I've read here this forum will be very helpful to me.
Thanks a lot.

Tom.

Marty,
I don't want to start an argument but Phalaenopsis comes from 2 Greek words meaning 'moth like'. The vowels in Greek are pronounced only one way. The 'a' as in 'alfa', therefore Phalaenopsis is pronounced Phal (with a short 'a', not a long one) en-op-sis. My half Greek ears cringe every time I hear Fail-en-op-sis !! Thought you might like to know.

No offense! Merlyn

Good feedback - that's why we are all here! Corrected to fal-en-OP-sis

According to a pronouncing dictionary for plant names, I have it as
(fal-e-nop'sis)
What do you all say?

Ive always heard it pronounced fal, short a. Not long a as in fail......a friend always said to me " I don't care what you call me just don't call me late for breakfast"
