Default Getting rid of terrarium pests, for good !

There's a new story entry added:

Getting rid of terrarium pests, for good !

Quote:
Just wanted to update everyone on my recent successes !!! You guys might already know that I was fighting with infestation of slugs and millipedes in one of my tanks. This was in my 90gal diamond shaped. Millipedes got so bad that I had probably hundreds of them crawling all over the tank...it was disgusting !!! I did not want to rip my tank apart because I put a lot of work and money into making the background and water features, foggers, lights, etc.

Default CO2 for pest control

This simple non-toxic method seems too good to be true. Please try it on scale and/or spider mites.

Will be anxious to see what happens

Yes indeed...seems like the Holy Grail of pest control, doesn't it. It works great in terrarium type setups.

This will be tough... I think I trashed my last scaled phal. I got tired of swabbing it with 2-propanol. I might be able to find a mite or two though from my other hobby

I'm planning to repeat the procedure in the next day or two

Default Great Idea

Hello Marty
Great idea. Your terrarium looks great. Nasty Bugs.

I am wondering whether you have a writeup on how you built this beautiful terrarium. I wanted to build one but am lost. It's overwhelming to ready all the articles and figure-out where to start.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Srivida

I did the procedure again, this time against little snails that must have been brought in on some plant. I also noticed some mites that were present in the tank. I didn't mind the mites as my frogs eat them up, but it was worth noting that snails are gone and mites survived.

These mites were completely white. Perhaps it will work better on a different kind, but it definitely didn't work on these mites. No idea how they survived, since I had CO2 in the tank for 2 solid days and I was topping it off few times.

Mites are very hardy.
