Good Tips! Thanks Dave. Might I ask you or any on OB, why I should be boosting the phosphorous levels? Is it merely to encourage leave growth, or does it helps the leaves cope with lower light levels during the fall/winter?

It's to help increase flower count and size.

The fallen leaves do indeed make a fertilizer for the next year. However, this is intended for the tree that dropped the leaves. Leaves tend to smother lawn grasses, especially larger leaves. Use the mulching feature of your lawn mower (if available) to finely shred the grass as you mow. That will provide the lawn with the organic matter it needs.
