That was very interesting Jerry - as far as it went.
There has to be a lot more to the secret than planting the orchid in the middle of the pot facing outwards and stopping the potting medium from remaining wet in the middle.
Is there a chapter 2?

Yours in anticipation, Baz

Unfortunately Baz, there really isn't a chapter two. Well, perhaps there is a chapter 11/2. Part of the process is to use plants that tend to throw multiple front leads and that grow really well for you. In my case, things such as the plant pictured here, BC Pastoral is one that does that for me. Others that have done equally as well are LC Irene Finney, Onc. altissimum, L tenebrosa, C maxima to name a few. I had a friend that repeatedly grew BLC Nachouchee this way but I was never able to duplicate his success. I have seen LC Irene Finney once in a washtub. I have never tried to go that far.
Oh, yes, another part of the secret is patience.

Thanks Jerry. I just knew that horrible ingredient 'patience' would be in there somewhere.
Talking of washtubs, years ago I saw an old fashioned three compartment concrete washtub full of C. skinneri in bloom - and it was growing in full sun in the sub tropics.

Can you tell me where to find the album referenced in the article? I'd like to look at it. Advance apology if it's right in front of my nose.

I like the idea of using an inverted net pot in the middle. Thanks for the article!

I hope I don't give you the wrong info as I'm not very good with computers. But, if you go to "gallery" and open it up, you will find a section entitled "personal albums". Open the albums up and click on J (for Jerry Delaney) and I think you will find it there. Let me know if this doesn't work.
