I bought this book about half a year ago, and I am slightly disappointed. First lots of the orchids mentioned, are not miniatures, but what he calls "drawf" and "compact". Compact is in my eyes normal sized orchids. In the very good cross references, only about 1/6 of the orchids mentioned are actually stated as minuture.
Secondly, only a few orchids have tips on how to get them to flower.
Third, the book is too heavy on hybrids while very weak regarding for example Bulbophyllums (4+1 hybrid) and Pleurothallis (6). However the book includes 15(!) different phal hybrids.
The photos are overall very good, but I would have liked that more of them would be photos of the whole orchid, not only the flower in close-up.
I think the look of the plant is nearly as important as the look of the flower, since most orchids only flower a few week per year - at best.
Also, somehow I got the feeling that few orchids that didn't have catching colourful flowers were included.
I think a more fair title of the book would be:
"Popular smaller orchids and hybrids".
Then I would rate it higher.
