I have tried repeatedly to contact two different sellers both by private email and regular email for information about purchasing plants and have yet to recieve a reply from either seller. Is this common here on the Orchid Board? If the plants are sold, shouldn't they remove the post or at least reply to emails stating that they have been sold?

It doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong. The problem seems to be on their end.
