Still holding its flowers. I keep it in the living area so we can enjoy it. Probably not greatest for the overall health of the plant. I move it back to the window occassionally (probably not often enough since we enjoy it so much.)

Default Thank you for that Vanda experiment!

Your Vanda article gives me hope!! I couldn't have my Vanda hanging, so I got a plastic basket, turned it upside down and put it into a large pot. I then gently eased the roots around the plastic basket. I soak the vanda everyday for 20 minutes with just water, unless it's blooming, when it get 5 drops of BabyBio Orchid Food added to the water.
It has now lost it's blooms and being new to orchids, I thought it was dying! But on joining this site I have been helped a lot already!
Thank you for this article though. I thought I was going to have to give it away to someone who was prepared to let it hang instead!

I think several vanda experts suggest the plants are heavy feeders. Perhaps being somewhat more generous with nutrients would be helpful...but hey, anything that works when you are going against the conventional wisdom.

Default The masterful Vanda

Great Story Nick. By the sounds of it, I believe your Vanda has you "wrapped right around it's roots". With all that great care you have been giving it the Vanda is the master after all. Keep up the wonderful work.

I grow my little plant of Papilionanth teres in a pot, too!
My pot is clay-made(so I have to water more frequently than plastic pots but fortunately the high humidity of my little greenhouse help me!) and honestly I saw the plant grow more quichly and more healthy than in hanging baskets ora bareroot.
