Boy, not too long ago I was in the same boat--The thing that helped sooooooo much was two books: Ortho's (yeah, the pesticide people) All About Orchids and the slightly more advanced Ortho's Complete Guide To Orchids.You can pick them up online at Amazon or at your local Lowe's or Home Depot in the how-to section. Hope this clears up some things for you--it sure helped me
