Welcome to OB. Could you post a picture for us to see your plants? If it's not doing anything, it may just be resting a little. How long has it been this way?
I too have trouble with sphagnum moss (for one thing, I hate spelling it) and it tends to be too wet all the time, as Psyguy said. If you don't like watering, then that is a good choice for you. But moss can also help stimulate growth, so I understand why the person told you to use it.
This is not the best time of the year for phals. Most seem to go out of bloom around this time.
Now in Sept through November or so, they will get stimulated to grow by the temperature changes. They need a cooler nighttime temp. At least 5 to 10 degree cooler than the daytime temps.
And are you fertilizing them? Perhaps every other watering I would fertilize them with an orchid fertilizer.
