Default Cattleya percivaliana and Euanthe sanderiana

Hi All,

I am looking forward to acquire a cattleya percivaliana and Euanthe sanderiana. Does anyone have some experiences growing these under lights?
If yes, thank you for sharing
Regards

Euanthe sanderiana grows to be a very large plant.

Euanthe sanderiana are very large plants. larger than most hybrids out there but their flowers are magnificent. Very high light with some direct sun and lots of water, humidity and fertilizer! I had mine for two years and it hasn't bloomed. I received it with no roots so it is a major set back for the plant.

I grow C. percivaliana. It is currently in bloom. Part of the time mine is under lights (thru late fall, winter and early spring) and the rest it gets mostly partly shaded light in my greenhouse (summer). It seems to just require basic Cattleya care although OrchidWiz says the light requirements are 3500 to 4500fc which is a little higher than some. A cooler and slightly dryer winter rest is what it gets in nature. Mine does get that simply because I live in a climate where winters are cold and the greenhouse is heated, but kept to 65F in the day and 60 at night. We have snow on the roof and fairly short days so I need to resort to HO T5 lights for winter. The percivaliana sits under two T5 bulbs that are a few inches away from the tallest leaves.

Euanthe sanderiana has VERY high light requirements. You can certainly make it grow, but blooming it under lights will be hard.

BTW, it is also a slow grower.
