I recently purchased a couple of Edpidendrum Kockii and I'm not finding much information about growing them under lights. If anyone has any information to share I would greatly appreciate it.

I checked OrchidWiz. the species was listed but no info available. This was all I could find and you may have already seen it. Doesn't help much with growing under lights tho:

Was wondering if whoever you bought them from could supply some info.

Thank you for trying to help

That's about as much information as I got. The seller says he grows them in intermediate conditions but I wanted to hear from fellow hobbiest who actually grow it.

It's such a pretty plant and so hard to find I just want to make it happy.

Been a while since I last posted here so hope everyone is doing well.

Hi there!

I would love to know where you purchased your Epi. kockii plants...

Do you know which clone oir variety of the species it is? Apparently, searching online, it seems that some pretty disparately flowered plants are so labeled. On the Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia, there are two pics that are much more like one another than some called up by a simple google search. I would want the PeruFlora clone if possible-- the colors-- gold and reddish-mahogany-- are striking, as is the size ratio between the plant and flowers. The IOSPE says it is cool-growing, and it does seem to come from high altitudes, at least the plants illustrated on IOSPE. Anyhow, I would love to grow one of those gems (as shown in the second IOSPE pic especially).

Thanks a lot for your kind assistance!

Hi there,

The one I bought is from Peru Flora and is the one with the big flower. So far I'm finding it difficult to keep.

Regards

Also minimal information, but on the Ecuagenera website were these notes

Intermediate-cool (I'm growing one outside (in the same area as my Pleurothallids), it's growing but verrrry slowwwly. Does seem to be staying alive... almost lost it, then I switched to RO water and it revived. So that's one more hint... good water helps.
