Whats the low down on Humidifiers?
Default Whats the low down on Humidifiers?

I cant seem to find the low down on room humidifiers. I'm trying to just raise my humidity 10%-20% in my spare bed room. Some people are saying go with a warm-mist some say an ultrasonic but only if you got RO water. I dont mind spending say $100 either on a real quality one.

I'm growing under (2) 23w CFL's. Got about 6 or so plants on a side table with a light fan on them from the other side of the room.

I use a cool mist humidifier from crane. I like it. It was around 50$ and it does a good job of raising the humidity in the room I have it in by about 15%.

I have a one gallon warm humidifier that I got from Ebay for $38....then a 2 gallon cool mist I got from amazon for $78....both of them have an oscillating fan attached on the top....I just put it in the dishwasher once a month....both of them are in the living room and gives me 68% humidity according to my battery operated humidistat/thermostat.

I have a 2 gallon warm mist in my bedroom and a gallon in the bathroom ....my heater all over my apartment is old style that emits water steam ....so overall my apartment is never below 60% humidity in winter. In summer Manhattan's atmosphere averages 70% to 90% humidity....hot and very humid.

*all humidifiers get filled up nightly before sleeptime.

I have a 2 gallon cool misting one. I got mine on amazon. That also has dishwasher safe parts and is supposed to battle germs and bacteria to keep them from circulating through your air. 50 dollars.

So everyones using all different kinds it seems. I guess just try and buy a quality one and I should be fine. I was either going to get a nice humidifier or a cheap keyboard for singing lol

Make sure you get one with an automatic shut off, in case you forget to fill it and it ends up running dry. I'm not sure if that's a standard feature or not, if it isn't, it should be!
