I am glad to see yours lived. Mine was mushy and dead when it arrived. There was still ice in the roots. The roots were really nice though. Awesome roots! Wish it was alive!

More on Liitle Black Sambo

First of all, Cyms are not deciduous. Just because you hold off on water during the cold months, does not qualify the plant as deciduous. Deciduous means that the leaves fall off naturally, all of them. Lets hope that does not happen to your plant!

This is a hybrid of two Australian species, each requiring very different cultures. LBS is not found in the wild. One parent, madidum is from the wetter, warm, coastal area. The leaves are flat and wide. Canaliculatum is from the hotter interior. The leaves are very tough and in the shape of a V to better catch any moisture in the air and funnel to the base of the plant.

I start to withhold regular watering when the leaves fall from my maples. I resume regular watering when they start to grow out again but only after the blooming spikes have started. However, during that rest period, I will mist monthly when the day is bright.

I hope this helps,

Cym Ladye

They emailed me back and said that I should already have it in full drought. 50-60% humidity; until the new growths are present. Same as catasetum care pretty much.
