Thumbs up 1 month mile marker for first set of chids!

Okay, this makes if memory serves week 2 with my schomburgkia flask chids, they will be coming out of the betta bowl and be set in my window sill set up.

For my first flask chids this makes 1 WHOLE MONTH ALIVE!!!! Out of the possibly 50 or so (maybe more) chids I have only lost possibly 10...They are continuing to grow. I sent out one set of each out to a fellow ob'er and they seem to be continuing to do well. I moved some of my larger chids into a bigger pot together where they will continue to have space to grow. It seemed to be a good thing because the smaller ones seem happier as well.

I have used magical and seaweed extract to hopefully continue to see good growth. EXTREMELY WEAKLY

AGAIN THEY DRY VERY QUICKLY!! DONT ALLOW THEM TO DRY OUT!!

Update almost ALL of my schomburgkia's flask chids have died and rotted, I was afraid that they were to oddly shaped and grown to be of any good growing I now only have one pot of them the biggest growth of them as well....

I have yet to figure this one out....

In fact that is the clean version...the seeds were all growing off of the same root. Large single roots with LOTS of small keiki's growing off of them, not sure what the heck happened but if the biggest one survives I am shocked and holding my breath not...so I have bid on some clean looking Catasetum chids lol...maybe if I win these they will actually do better than these second batch of mine....

There's a quote that you need to kill a 1000 orchids to become an expert. With flasks you'll get there faster. Good luck on your next flask!

Are they coming out of the flask small? Did you separate the seedlings or leave them in clumps?

It said leave the clumps together that the chance of survival was better. But this clump was just rotting.

Oh no! Do you have any up-close pics of the dying seedlings to have a better look at what exactly went wrong?
