Default Rhynchovanda Colmarie

I bought one of these at the Redlands show, the ones on display looked kind of like renentheras with a long spray of flowers. I've looked it up on the 'net but can only find a picture posted by somebody...no culture info at all. Right now, I have it in a space that get some morning sun, then shade most of the day, then evening sun, which is very bright here in Florida. It's growing a new set of leaves from the top so I guess it's happy, but I'd love to have more information on it.

Update: I found a picture of the plant from the web site of where I bought it...looks nothing like the renenthera, but gorgeous anyway...

The first pic below is what I originally found on the web, the second on the right is from the nursery I bought it and the color is more like what I remember.
I still have no culture on it though...

Hi Susanne ...I have this orchid.
Rhychovanda Colmarie 'Fred'
Beautiful colour and always gets peoples attention when in flower.
I have a picture on my orchid page of my website.
http://home.iprimus.com.au/marleneann/orchids.htm
I grow it in a greenhouse with the cattleys. I do however have an alsonite roof over the vanda section. (Clear waterproof solid plastic)
I also put ordinary clear plastic around the shade cloth in winter to make it warmer. I mist to help with humidity.
In summer when I know it is going to rain I hang this orchid on the washline and let it get a good drenching.
Fertilizer is weakly weekly.
About the end of autumn start with a bloosom booster fertilizer.
This is how I grow it... but I guess it all depends on the climate one has. I have sub-tropical.

Thanks for the info..I am also in a sub-tropical area so your input really does come in handy for me. I think it's doing weel under the conditions I've been keeping it, but I wouldn't have thought of drenching it in the rain. Since we are now in our rainy season (although it's barely rained at all, just lots of thunder and lightening...then nothing!) I will move it out in the open when we get a downpour. Thanks again...and I like your web page. Very nice
