I was surprised to read so many nay-sayers about the use of Superthrive. I have used superthrive for many a years with my Bonsai and continue it's use with my orchids. It is not a substitute for fertilizer but a suplement to my regular weekly feeding. Sorry guys, but it works for me!

Don, did you see Ray's response? It's not that there's anything wrong or bad about Superthrive (like I said, I used it for years) it's just that K-L-N is so much better.

I use this method to stimulate cymbidium and cattleya backbulbs to form new growths, and sometimes a sick plant . Lets say you have a catt with a bad dose of black rot , cut the affected part off at the rhyzome using a sharp sterilized knlfe, make sure that you have made the cut far enough back there must be ko trace of the black rot in the rhysome, seal the cut by dabbing on flowers of sulphur , this will will stop fungi from entering the cut. Leave the wound to dry for a day in a dry cool place. I then make a mix of captab or diathane
1 level teaspoon to 1litre of water in a spray bottle. Use a good quality new clear plastic bag, there must be no
leaks. I then blow the bag open and insert the spray bottle nozzle into the crimped neck of the bag giving it about 5 sprayers , shake the bag making sure that the liquid coats the whole of the inside of the bag. Then give the plant a good soaking as well , insert into the bag , and seal or tie the neck of the bag closed. Hang the bag in a cool place with good light but no direct sunlight.

I have used Superthrive for over four years now, and it works......conditionally. It does seem to increase plant growth, and I have noticed an increase in new lead production when using it at 1-2 tsp/gallon. I use to use it every other month, and found that some plants were either not growing at all or producing much smaller growths. Also, the infloresences would develop normally and strongly, but the flowers were crippled and mishapen. So I now use it once per year, well in advance of flower development, in order to induce more leads.
I also use this product when I repot, and when I unflask seedlings, at a much higher concentration and a brief soak. I feel that this induces much faster and more abundant root production, though these roots can be smaller.

Default Superthrive works for me

I use superthrive at a rate of one drop to 5 litres on my cymbidium seedlings once every other month I alternate with a seaweed extract called nitrosol also at a reduced rate . the results have been stunning to say the least. More is not always better, all the plant needs is trace amounts in order to give it a boost. Also very important is aeration of your water. Without dissolved oxygen in your feed water the plants are unable to use most of the fertilizer you provide for them. A simple aquarium aerator running in your feed water tank 24/7
makes a big difference.

I've been using it for 4 or 5 years now at one drop per 4 liters. I like it. I use MSU fertilizer at 132 ppm N (1g/l) with Superthrive at every watering. Once a month I skip Superthrive and use seaweed extract or coconut water.
