You have to become a member of AOS to view back articles or get the June 2008 issue of Orchid Magazine.

I took a friend to the easy route out by the ladder and the camera. Saw some ghosts and the usual beauty of the whole place but none were blooming over there, which surprised me.
On the way back, on the trail, was a pretty big gator lying there catching some Z's. Had to tap him on the tail a couple of times to get him to move. It was pretty funny.

I posted on the other " How about a trip to Fak thread" Next time I'll PM you.

AOS | Another Ghost Story
I am essentially using the method described, i.e. use a hydrofogger at 60-80% humidity depending on weather. Every other week I put the fogger on 100% for the day: most mounted plants love it, and for some e.g. Diplocaulobium flowers frequently appear a week later during flowering season. The fogger is on a timer and a humidistat such that high humidity and drier phases change frequently. And I always use a light fertilizer mix when I water.

I draped a bit of spanish moss around the mount. The plant came already attached to a deeply furrowed piece of bark with roots closely attached, but only one root was growing. So no superglue needed. I have not used the rapeseed as I could not get it in the UK. I have not moved the plant to the greenhouse top, as I don't use shade cloth. May try when the plant is larger. It gets dappled shade from bamboos on the south side of the greenhouse; more shade in summer when the new bamboo canes mature. I tend to thin the bamboo out at the end of July, such that there is not too much fresh growth and thus shade.

Most of the roots started getting fresh growth tips and a new root has developedand grown to about 1/2inches in less than a month. Of course we will have to see how the plant develops. In particular in winter, when I don't get much sunlight due to surrounding buildings and short days.

@trdyl - thanks again for the link

I can tell you from experience, as long as you are keeping that plant moist, it will handle full sun. I grew it for a while in my backyard, taking full Florida sun from 11am-sunset, and it grew vigorous. That was with waterings twice a day, so if you are misting it...it should be very happy. It grew vigorously in these conditions all through the summer, until the dry winter air got a hold of it later. My only point is don't be afraid to give it a little light....it thrives in it.
