I understand your concern about LED. I just put in a track of 8 Chip Tech LED's and the results freaked me out. It is way to dark looking from the side. They are bright to look at and they cast a good strong shadow. I put four of the Fluorescent back up for now. Only about a week into it but the plants aren't showing any stress issues yet. Anybody else expert in this area?

I would recommend the utilization of a good quality light meter to measure the output from the LED's.
Human eyesight is notoriously bad at estimating light strength, and thus this objective measurement would be a great way of quantifying the FC (Foot candle) output to estimate the plants ability to grow and bloom under those light conditions.
