Default zygopetalum culture

I am a Zygopetalum owner for the first time. Is the care of Zygos very similar to Cymbidiums? I live in zone 6. Would they benefit from a summer in my garden with morning sun like cymbidiums do? Might they not attract scale &/or aphids outside? Will they do just as well if I keep them in a southern window and water frequently?

How ironic, was looking for info myself, got one for Mother's Day and this is new to my collection. Cultural habits seem pretty simple...tks Dennis

All of my orchids go outside during the summer, including the zygos. I think I'm considered zone 5. My plants get afternoon sun since my balcony faces west. The only problem that I have is from earwigs. They love hanging around the leaf axils. I have to flood the axils to get the bugs out of there. I have never had a problem with scale or aphids from keeping my plants outside. My plants grow well and even bloom while outdoors.

I hope this helps.

Kevin
