Hi Jim -
I always get concerned about keikis because they seem too fragile to go through a dry winter like the big honkers. But, I've been advised to treat the keikis, seedlings, etc. just like the adult plants - let them go dry and leafless. It hurts me to do it!
Also, I've found that the keikis will tend to separate from the parent plants by themselves after a year or so. Usually by that time they have a pretty good root system.
