Usually red on leaves is an indicator that the plant is getting good light. Probably as high light as it will take.

The plant is protecting itself from getting too much red light be making red pigments which absorb the red light waves

Dennis, I have my B nodosa in the area with my Phals rather than high light.
The red is usually a sign of one or two things:
the amount of light it's getting is at the top of it's high light range...move it in a more diffused light
-or-
it's feeding off itself due to an insufficient amount of food...give it a little more and see if it improves.

Mine is hanging in south window with window screen. It gets as much as it can absorb and still doesn't have reddish tindg. So I'd guess you have too much sun.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Hey, good timing. I just read this today. Here's the excerpt:

Quote:
Short, yellow leaves too much light, floppy, long leaves too little light.
Medium to light green leaves, standing erect correct amount of light.
Reddish pigmentation is produced by some plants in the upper range of the correct amount of light. Slight reddish tinge is usually a sign of good light conditions. Heavy reddish coloration indicates light is too bright.
Dark brown spots or yellowed areas on leaves may be sunburn – caused if temperature of leaf rises too high – leaves should not feel hot to touch
.

Hope this helps!

My nodosa's are red in pigment, this is the way I get them to flower. One thing for sure I've noticed, the newer growth has more redish coloration then the mature growth.

I've been growing Nodosa's for years, indoors and in a greenhouse. The red tint is a good thing and will probably flower nicely for you under your current light conditions.

Thank you!! She's one of my favorite plants.
Let them go dry too, don't over water.
