I use alternate between two types of fertilizers, Scotts Miracle Grow and Peters 20-20-20. Both do contain micronutrients. The rates I use indoors Fall through early spring 1/4 tsp/gallon once a month. When they are outside 1/2 tsp/gallon once a week.
Well i do have a little box of Peters Allrounder that i have never used before, i believe 18-18-18 or 20-20-20 not sure exactly but it has pink buildup at the bottom?
Its very old 4-5 yrs of sitting in a dry closet, would this still be usable or is it too old?
Not sure because of the pink build up. For my Trip 20 I have had it almost as long. I bought 1 10lb Box on sale and barely put a dent in it so far. But unlike yours mine has not changed color.
Thanks for the comments everyone, i will get a picture up tomorrow.
Out of curiosity how many years does a fertilizer last before its unusable? seeing as mine is 4-5 years id say but i recall using it a few months ago to test and no plants died :P
Also, the 7+3+7 fertilizer is usable or should i ditch it and settle with the powder form from Peter's ?
In all cases, a good, general recommendation is to feed at about 125 ppm N at all times. You may determine the volume to use to get that with simple math (rounding up or down is fine):
► 13/%N on label = ml to make up a liter
► 10/%N = teaspoons to make up a gallon
For your 7%N fertilizer, I'd use 2 ml/L or 1.5 tsp/gal
