Alamania punicea....do you grow it? - Orchid Board

Hi there......

So Maria has decided to start a somewhat serious collection of Mexican Orchids.....and in her effort, she has purchased an Alamania punicea. Maria tells me she fell in love with the bright red blooms of the plant and the unusual growth habit.

Maria thinks it's gorgeous, and frankly, so do I. So I found one and bought it.

Ummmmm does anyone here grow it and if so, would be so generous as to share some cultural tips?????

I know right? It's so RED!!! Unusual in orchids. I love it!!! And a species at that!!

I ordered one today!!!

The seller indicated that he had bloomed these before, so I'm not getting a nbs or anything like that. Now I have to become an expert on this little itty bitty gorgeous orchid. (smirk)

Ahhhhhhhhhhh...the thrill of something new, it's priceless, no? (giggle)

Maria I read on the link that you gave us for the flowers that it's a cool grower so you might have to keep it inside your house not on the terrace or in the office.
