Target N for Masdevallia @Slipper orchids ?
Hi ,
I am going to use a MSU based feed and want to know what target N for Massies and slipper orchids .
I am going for the 125 N target but my main collection is Masdevallia ,Paphs and some Phrags so am aware that these may require less feed ,if so i will feed all my plants the lower target N but what should i settle with .
Is there anyone out there feeding these species without problems to a target N of 125 ?
Regards Keith

I have settled on approx 100 ppm N @ 0.6 teaspoon per gallon .
So will now see how they go on MSU feed .

Keith I have started concentrating on my plueros more now. I use Dyna-grow at half strength
I also only feed my masd. and other plueros once a month. so far it seems to be working nicely.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I target 125 for my Paphs every watering, same for my Phrags but every other or every third watering, Plueros I target half that 50 - 60 ppm.

I use 125 ppm N for everything (including the Masdies.) I water the Masdies mostly with RO water, then once a week or so soak them in fertilizer mix. Everything else except Dracs get a steady diet of fertilizer mix. Dracs are treated like Masdies. Hope this helps.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Nope! But I don't feed regularly with Masdies. I feed constantly with slippers. Masdies don't burn at all for me, but sometimes I get leaves that distort like they don't get enough water. I attribute this to too much fertilizer and back off. I still plan to stick with 125ppm but alternate with pure water.
