Paphiopedilum - Minimum leaf span to bloom Male
Default Paphiopedilum - Minimum leaf span to bloom

Anyone know the minimum leaf span for Paphiopedilum natural species to bloom? I have 17 different young plants and would like to know when to expect them to bloom. Or is there a web adress where this can be read?

My paph list:
Paphiopedilum appletonianum
Paphiopedilum bullenianum
Paphiopedilum bundtii
Paphiopedilum chamberlainianum
var latifolium
Paphiopedilum dayanum
Paphiopedilum hirsutissimum
Paphiopedilum hirsutissmum
var esquirolei
Paphiopedilum javanicum
Paphiopedilum kolopakingii
Paphiopedilum lowii
Paphiopedilum rothschildianum
Paphiopedilum sanderianum
Paphiopedilum tigrinum
Paphiopedilum tonsum
Paphiopedilum urbanianum
Paphiopedilum venustum
Paphiopedilum wenshanense

Have them since a year and they are steadily growing. Thanks for help!

There are too many variables to provide a reliable answer.

I have some kolopakingii with 18" leaf spans that are first-bloomers, but have seen others bloom at 12" while others at 24".

In general, the mottled-leaved types tend to be smaller - 6-10".

I have the paphiopedlium venustum wich is in bloom right now. It has a leaf span 8". I also have a paph sanderianum wich probably will not bloom until it ha s aleaf span of at least 20 - 24 leaf span.

Those are some very nice healthly looking paphiopedlium species you have there.
