I think that that must just be your conditions
I've never heard of it having a dormancy here, but i guess its warmer here.

I was just about to say that!
My cuprea has been in bloom since i got it, its smell is strange but weak, and the flowers and plant are small, but its intricate and has nice colours.

I have heard many people in equatorial climates that have them bloom year round. I think I am just north of that line, because all my butterfly orchids have a short dormancy (1-2 months).
