Hi! I stumbled upon a wonderful link the other day that I think you will find useful. After the info, there are some pictures for you to look at of potting up your deflasked seedlings. I haven't tried it yet, but will be soon. We would love to see pictures when you are finished

Here is the link: Caring for Seedlings Removed from Flasks and A Method of Compotting in Sphagnum

That's a good link. Also try OSP and Lotte and Thomas, or just do different web-searches. There's quite a bit of info out there (and here) if you just dig a bit.

Cattleyas are usually pretty forgiving right out of the flask. The actual deflaking is a breeze, pretty fun really. It's sustaining them outside of the flask that is a little tricky. They need time to get used to the cruel world. Slowly acclimate them to real-world conditions by tenting them in a propagation tray with a lid (or a tupperware with cling wrap, or a deli container, or just be creative). Slowly increase air circulation by venting a little more each week. It's a lot easier to rot them to a mush, than it is to dry them to a crisp. So, keep any media on the drier side, and avoid heavy misting. Really high humidity will keep them happy.
