Default Florida eulophia graminea smells very strong

Surprised has a very good smell almost similar to cattleya, if you remembers my original post with the pictures they are still flowering and have multiple one meter spikes.
The way i discovered that they smell is that i gave a flowering baby sized eulophia to a friend and they noticed it smell quite strongly seeing as they kept it indoor.

Amazing naturalized orchid

ps i found more on the sand dunes of Miami beach

they are everywhere on Miami beach if you look closely

Very interesting to see that this is an invasive plant in Florida! Weird to think that an orchid could be invasive but I guess anything can given the correct conditions.

Default naturalized

I don't really think anybody considers this orchid invasive seeing as it has been in Florida probably for 20 25 years and is relatively slow growing and slow spreading compared to other plants. Supposedly eulophia graminea first spread to the Caribbean islands and then made its way on to south Florida. The way is spread to Florida amazes me seeing as it found a suitable pollinator probably in some orchid collectors garden in 1990s and then those seeds were able to germinate in florida in his neighborhood. I am currently trying to germinate some eulophia graminea seed in the mother plant pot seeing as i took lots of soil from where i collected the original orchid, this probably means that this soil has the correct fungus in order for germination. Right now it is flowering season for eulophia graminea and they all do not have any leaves only last years flowering bulbs. I looking forward to seeing this years new shoots.
I will update with photos.
Any questions please ask
