The thing that seems to help is opening another window and coming to the site on the new one then just closing the one that's stuck.
But I quickly have the issue happen again on this new window.

I do not have anything like this happening on any other sites that I visit.

Is there any help I can get or ideas that I can try?

I have never been told that I am not logged in and have never been timed out. It does take forever to load a page sometimes.

A little more context - for me, the lag (which could continue indefinitely) almost always seems to be when I've finished reading page 1 of a thread, and when I click on page 2, it stalls out.

I suspect something is up with either the DB queries, the table indexing, or the data model itself (too many tables?).

I'd be happy to contribute some $ toward the resolution if there is someone who can put a plan together and carry that plan forward. Something an IT consultant should be able to fix or improve relatively inexpensively.

Have we thought about hiring someone to determine the root cause of the issue first rather than speculating?

I have lags under all circumstances:
- starting from a blank browser tab and going to OB from a bookmark, Win 8.1 desktop & Android phone;
- clicking a link in a thread update E-mail, desktop & phone;
- clicking on a thumbnail in a a message, or Next on an image;
- clicking on a thread in a forum listing;
- clicking on a Next Page icon or page number;
- clicking any of the buttons involved in posting a new thread, or replying to one, including image posting;
- clicking to check new Likes or private messages;

Basically, any time I click a anywhere in OB I might experience prolonged page load. Sometimes it times out.

Yes, pretty much everything I do on here takes a while... and timing out is not uncommon...

"Check" the 'remember me' option right there where you type in your log-in and pass word.
It works on 'timing out' issue.....A LOT!

Until someone told me about it I was getting timed out a dozen times a visit.
Since using it...hasn't happened.


Now that issue with too many "tags" getting automatically attached to a new/advanced post...kill that and we're on our way to the 21st century.

It's an older site and I understand it can take a bit of wait-time for a window to refresh or to get into one of the forums.

I bet, in it's beginning, this was one HELL'UVA modern place to visit.
It's still a hell'uva site, just a bit on the mature side...like me

Hey Chuck the tag thing was making me nuttier than I already am! Now when I make a new post, I just delete all the tag it's showing and voila! Post is fine. That one really had me going, I could not post at all.

Yeah, I do the same thing Pattywack.
But I'm pretty nutty myself...which makes me forgetful.

When I remember it's OK.
When I forget it sucks...but a quick fix.
