I don't think you can delete a post. You have to ask a moderator to do it for you.

You can't delete???? I'm doing this as a test.

(Back after trying to delete)

Wow! That's true! Many forums offer the delete option. I guess it's disabled here.

You can go under edit, and backspace your post to erase, the post remains but it then is empty.

I thought users could do a 'soft delete' which is where a marker is left saying 'post deleted' and a moderator can actually still restore it. But I must have mis-remembered or its changed since I became a moderator.

Members with white flowers rather than yellow flowers under their name are moderators. Also if you go to the bottom of the front page, above the 'What's Going On?' pink line, the is a little link for 'View Forum Leaders'. There are lots of sections in that, but down the bottom is the 'Super Moderators' section which lists the moderators. However note that our great friend Dorothy is shown in that list and she sadly died a couple of years back. Also justatypn is not around that often just now. However, that's the place to look to find who can help you with any issues.

When I tried that, I got a message telling me that the message was too small, and it wouldn't let me leave it that way.

I think I've seen people just putting a full stop (period) in the field to let them do that.
