Mort, if you are looking for the cym question you asked here, I have moved it to a thread of it's own in 'beginner discussions' as I think it will then get more people seeing it.

Hi Ashleigh,

Red envolopes mean that it is a 'Hot Thread'. This means it has over 15 replies OR over 50 views.

Green envolopes mean that it has under 15 replies AND under 50 views.

If there is a letter coming out of it then it contains new posts that you have not read since the last time you logged in (so if you log out they will all be marked as read and only new ones since then will show as unread).

If there is an arrow pointing in towards the envolope then you have posted in that thread. It's a red arrow on the green envolopes and a blue arrow on a red envolope.

There is also a pale red envolope with a white arrow and a letter coming out of it. That means it has new posts AND you have already posted in it. I think that is the same no matter how many posts of views but I'm not certain, there may be a green version of that as well.

Finally there is an envolope with a padlock on it. That means the thread has been closed (locked) by a moderator. Those are very rare on OB but they do happen.

I think that is all of them. Hopefully I've not missed any.

I have a question. How do you quote just a part of a post?

If you use the WISIWIG editor options then it's not very easy (and I'm not sure how).

I use the 'Stadard Editor - Extra Formatting Controls' option and it's very easy in that. But you don't see it as it will appear, you see the codes for the formatting instead of the actual formatting.

You can switch editor views with the little button that has A/A. You can edit what you want and then switch it back as required.

Anyway, when you use that view you can see the quote just as text in your message. You can then edit the text of the quote and remove the bits you don't want. You have to be careful not to remove all or part of the bits in square brackets as those are the formatting tags and it will not show correctly if you remove them.

Hope that helps and make sence.

Hi Bill

Just click on the "Quote" box in the post you are responding to. A reply box will open up with that quote in brackets. You can remove any part of what's between the brackets (like I removed your I have a question" )

That seems to be somewhat complicated. I just do what I posted in my first response to Bill

Thanks. I think I got it now. I'm such a dinosaur when it comes to this stuff.

Rosie, I'd have to hire every 6 yr old kid I could find to figure out what you're trying to tell me!!
