This is the setup I have in my basement every winter. Helps keep the cold from coming through the vent area. We block that hole up and use the container. I never see lint but in the container. I don't have any orcids in my basement, though, but I wouldn't hesitate if I had a set up there. Hmmmmmm, would make more space for orchids.....hmmmmmm.
Now that is a new idea I hadn't thought of before.
