That's pretty cool. I have a set up that is similar but not that high tech. We used a reptile cage as well, the only problem is it is not water tight. I like your idea of being able to put water in the bottom for humidity and then covering it with a weed mat. I can't keep the moisture up in the cage very well so right now I don't have any orchids in it. It is just a plant tank. We have the tank lit with compact fluorescent lights that are actually for our 75 Gal. Aquarium. The plants seem to love it.
