This year my husband, Dave, and I will be alone for Christmas. My two sons will be with their significant others in other areas of the US. Thanksgiving was our "must get entire family together" time.
Christmas Eve will consist of a candlelight service at our local church, then to Dave's family for lasagna, salad, garlic bread, wine and exchange of small gifts.
Christmas Day will be leisurely with an evening meal of my traditional Meatpie that Dave loves, a side veggie, and homemade applesauce. We will snuggle up to the fire and have a nice quiet reflective evening.
However, last evening I hosted a Christmas Party for 15 old high school friends of over 30 years (Stitch & Bitch Group). We have stayed in touch all these years and gather once a month for fun and camaraderie. I made a delicious Mai Tai Pie for the first time, and my traditional Thumbprint Cookies. Everyone makes something to bring, potluck style, then we exchanged gifts....(drew names back in October's gathering). This is the second year in a row I've hosted the party....why? Orchids, of course! Everyone wants to come to my house to see my orchids!
Now it feels like Christmas time!!! kiki-do
