Same thing happened to me! I'm originally from the suburbs of Detroit but my family moved to Northern Michigan when I was in my teens. We lived in the middle of the country and one day when I was coming home from work (at the local pet store mind you!) there was a HUGE turtle in the middle of the road. With the tail it stretched across more than one lane! I got out to coax it across and almost peed my pants too! Went screaming back to my car shaking the rest of the way home....
