Thank you, Susanne and Cheryl, for your warm welcome! I've learned quite a bit in just the short time I've been here. Everyone seems very helpful and supportive!
I am in complete agreement with you, Susanne! Who would want to live on Pringles when there's a vast array of chips out there? I'm ready to "kick it up a notch!"
My biggest concern about branching out, though, is the lack of warmth in my house and receiving direct sunlight only in the morning. I feel quite comfortable with my indoor temps only going into the low to mid 60's during the winter months and into the mid 70's to low 80's in the summer. Living only a few feet from a lake seems to help keep my humidity fairly steady at about 60%. My Phals seem to have adjusted but I'm not sure that another species would.
Do you (or anyone else reading this) have any suggestions as to what my next orchid purchase should be?
I must add that I'm not sure that I'm ready to make the commitment of lights and greenhouses......just yet. Heck, I'm still trying to teach the dogs to use the can opener so they don't have to depend on me every time they want to eat.
