Default Cypripediums in the wild

Hello everyone

Wanted to let you guys know that I went hiking yesterday and I found what I believe to be lady slipper orchids.

I was on a trail and spotted one growing in the forest (elevation around 3100 ft) it wasn't in bloom. The foliage was absolutely beautiful!

I went on a little farther and found anywhere from 75-100 just growing out in the forest; I could not believe my eyes, I just wanted to scoop them up and take them home with me, but didn't. Then on up from these was one to the left of the trail with last year's spike on it-it was approximately 3 ft. long. I didn't have my camera or else I would have taken some pics.

I suspect these little beauties will be in bloom somewhere in May or June. I plan on going back, hopefully I will be able to spot them, as the foliage on the trees was not fully out yet yesterday. This time of year is perfect for spotting wild orchids, I enjoy looking for them on my hikes

There are several species where I live. I will try to take some pics of my travels and post them for everyone to see...

Eddie
