KC,
I agree with your assessment. The discoloration is localized so the probability of any excessive light would be more pronounced over the entire leaf or plant.
The best thing to do is to isolate the plant. Grow it as the others and watch to see if the discoloration changes into the more pronounced symptoms of brown chlorotic patches and possible lesions.
