No, they use both ends, as I understand it, but they need the really red/magenta end which lots of bulbs don't provide. That's partly for blossoming (I think). I did lots of questioning including the hydroponics folks and was recommended to use 3 to 1. So I did. I've only had this running since Jan 17, so don't have long-term experience yet.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)
