Great! You are doing the correct thing... researching. And next comes the GRAND experiment (the real thing!) I can't answer most of your questions from real-world experience. Maybe when you get your tank dialed in you can fill us in?

Most T5 strip lights are 48" or 24". There are lots of other sizes, but these are the most common. The 48" strips are rated at 2000 lumens (not 2900) The 24" at half that. Always remember that's output not totally available for plants unless they are in contact with bulbs.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)
