Ross, I normally start heating in late Sept. to early Oct. but it's usually Dec. before the air in the house gets down to 40%. There is no sense trying to keep it much above that in the winter as the windows sweat too much during the really cold days.
For the last couple of weeks the humidity has pretty much been 85 to 100% outside and it's either raining or a grey day, definitely not good growing weather as the length of the daylight is also very limited. This weeks weather forecast is for 13 to 18 deg C and more rain so the house won't dry out anytime soon.
